Yes it's that time again. Jaadfan and I have been very industrious and have baked a batch of delicious gluten free hot cross buns for my daughter, who should be arriving home soon.

Strange....

Call me mean but.....

  • Jan. 3rd, 2009 at 6:51 PM

I was unimpressed by the giant squid at Te Papa. In fact the line that stretched out across a bridge impressed me more. To me it looked like a badly cooked pancake with legs. Obviously vast quantities of calamari doesn't rock my boat excuse the pun heh. It impressed jaadfan, though my daughter took one look and took off at speed, I asked if it grossed her out. She said no but we all know she was lying. She's never been fond of seafood, what was I thinking taking her to see it?

39 and counting...

Happy Birthday to meeee Happy Birthday to meeee Happy Birthday Dear Vanessa Happy Birthday to meeeee lol just when you thought I couldn't get any stranger! Stranger and older and strangely pretty upbeat considering last year I was so depressed about getting older I decided to be 21 again. I'm counting my blessings and counting way less wrinkles on me than most people my age so what the heck do I have to be bummed about ay? I'm already planning my mid life crisis purchase,  sadly no sports car but hey I'd get claustrophobic in a porshe and the fuel bill and maintenance costs would cripple most people these days, so I'm settling on a pair of black boots with chains and spikes on em instead. Here's to a beautiful day with the people I love wishing me well.

Thank you!

Thank you so much meesto and trickofthedark for inviting us (jaadfan, myself and my daughter) to your lovely and very delicious Thankgiving dinner. I am no longer a pumpkin pie virgin *GRIN*. We went home so full and satisfied that dinner was completely out of the question. It was great seeing you again and meeting new people and ones we hadn't seen for a while!

Halloween

  • Nov. 1st, 2008 at 10:34 AM

We had a great time last night going treat or treating in Miramar! We invited a friend of my daughter, and his Mum to come along so we ended up with a witch, a demon, a mouse(my daughter), a cat(me)and a dog (jaadfan). There was quite a crowd outside the Halloween House and the treats were especially plentiful this year considering we got started an hour later than we usually do.Pics to follow when we can find a spare moment.

Singing, torture and such

  • Oct. 13th, 2008 at 8:59 PM

OMG tonight in the studio was like pulling teeth (actually pulling teeth is probably easier). After half an hour I finally got it or at least something near  "it ". James accidently cut off the 1st take which typically has to be the good one right? Arrggghhhh! I got so nervous and things got progressively crappier (well I think so) until I thought "Fuck it just do it so I can get out of this damn room and get on with my life!". If this song wasn't going to possibly (if we lucky/talented enough) end up on a compilaton CD with James and I getting songwriting credit then I wouldn't be sweating bullets. We have until the 20th Oct to submit this song, damn I'll be bummed if it isn't picked or worse if the musicians and singer make it sound like shit. We'll be doing our own version and definately think it should be rocked up. Watch this space, could be good news

Gawd I'm knackered!

  • Oct. 12th, 2008 at 8:52 PM

I've been sewing all day and I'm officially stuffed! I'm supposed to be singing vocals for a song James is working on but no can do. I suppose I should feel guilty since I wrote the song with him and now I'm bailing out , for now at least.  All I want to do now is eat something low maintenance (I forgot to eat dinner) and share a deep meaningful relationship with my bed and pillow, oh pillow how I love thee so soft and comforting.

I'm a busy excitabubble today peeps! Spent the morning so far cutting out fabric for a mouse costume for my daughter for Halloween. My daughter is going trick or treating as a mouse, with me as a cat and Jaadfan as a dog (I'm making his dog costume next weekend). Jaadfan was a great help with cutting, pinning and he excelled at tail stuffing (no surprise most heterosexual men know quite a bit about tail hehehe). Anyhoo many hours of sewing to go yet so I shall leave thee to wonder.....

At midday today starting on the corner of Cuba and Ghuznee streets in central Wellington. Making our way to Parliament grounds, handing out flyers and materials. We are rallying people in support of freedom from the global handcuff, to stand up for the rights of people with mental distress.

Anyone who suffers from mental illness or supports those who do please support this march.

I like my new job. My boss is nice, co-workers are nice too except for one person who if she were a cartoon character would be walking around with a permanent thundercloud above her head, oh well. I'm happy :D My daughter is off on a school ski trip to Ruapehu tomorrow so I've spent hours today organising clothing, etc. I will miss her while she's away but I'm glad she'l be having fun.

Still sick grrrr!

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 8:51 AM

Into the second week of my cold/flu but it seems to be on the wane (positive thinking here). I actually managed to do the grocery shopping yesterday that I should have done on Saturday without falling over. Thanks to my manic state and the superior shelf scanning ability it gives me as well as serious fleetness of foot I got it all done in half the time woohoo! Of course I always pay for that burst of efficiency with an equally hard out depression which I could do without, hit me last night and I still have it this morning. Hope it buggers off when I go see the library manager on Wednesday about the job I want. If I could successfully manipulate this illness to my advantage I'd choose to be slightly manic with no hint of anxiety on Wednesday at 11am heh if only it was that easy oh well fingers crossed I will be relatively upbeat and at least able to feign confidence and mental (or should that be cerebral) astuteness. I'll admit to being alternately hardwired but I don't want to go on and on about the how, when and why's cos I'd prefer to be appreciated for me rather than just a be a frown making, head scratching, long sigh label at  an interview. Does that make any sense? If not blame it on insomnia, sinus congestion and the neurotransmitters in my head whizzing around too fast. Apologies to anyone reading this and thinking "HUH???".

Cooking corn tortillas is fun, watching them cook as they seem to crawl across the frying pan like lazy caterpillars is funny... starting this at 11pm is probably not recommended. Oh well I'm knackered g'night!

Just in case you wanted to know.......

  • Apr. 18th, 2008 at 10:57 PM

The Spiderwick Chronicles is a really cool movie. James, Serenity and I saw it tonight :)

Stretcccccchhhh, KAPIIINNNG!!!

  • Mar. 30th, 2008 at 6:02 PM

Well actually it was more stretch ahhhhh! James and I went to a bodybalance class at the gym, a combination of yoga, pilates and tai chi. Balancing on one foot turned out to be my achilles heel har har but apart from that I found it quite pleasant and a rather natural thing for my bod to do. I found myself getting into positions I never knew I could. I felt so blissed out afterwards I felt like going to sleep. Definately going back for more. Afterwards we had a yummy lunch and then both bought some cool shoes. Pretty cruisy Sunday all up. Anyhoo off to roast a nice chicken with apricot stuffing mmmmmm.

Cruisin the net I spied

Life is weird aint it?

  • Jan. 31st, 2008 at 12:55 PM

The job interview I am freaking about going to has a panel of interviewers. I found out today that one of the panel I know really well. Not quite so nervous now but because of the context in which I know this person it will be kinda well weird, not uncomfortable just weird (they used to be my counseller when I had postnatal depression). I still think I won't get the job but hey it's nice to be shortlisted especially when I thought I didn't have a chance. When I rang up to confirm I could make the interview time and venue the person I spoke to was really lovely and wished me luck, damn the people are nice there, now I really really want the job!

OMG!!!

  • Jan. 26th, 2008 at 10:19 PM

I received a letter today telling me I have been short listed for a job I want! Very Cool! Only bummer is now I have to go to a interview in about 3 weeks time and convince a panel of interviewers why they should hire me instead of Joe brilliant who has more experience, qualifications and gawd knows what more than me. Feeling seriously nervous now *devours nails*. If they ask me why they should hire me over someone else I picture me squeaking like Mickey Mouse with his nuts in a vice. Please God let them give someone (me) with a warped sense of humour but basically a good person a break!
